Being a first-round draft pick, especially for the Dallas Cowboys, comes with a lot of attention and responsibility. Rookie Linebacker Micah Parsons has fully embraced that, and in a short amount of time, he has become one of the most popular players in the NFL.
When the Cowboys were on HBO’s Hard Knocks during training camp, Parsons uttered the phrase “The lion is always hungry” at practice. It’s stuck with him ever since and can be seen on social media nearly every time makes a play or has a big game. Now, the young lion is planning to cash in on his signature phrase as he filed a trademark last Wednesday for it that applies to athletic and general clothing apparel.

Parsons has lived up to the phrase in his first twelve games in the league. He’s racked up 72 tackles (16 tackles for loss), 10 sacks (franchise rookie record), 25 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended. Parsons has all but locked up Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and has now put himself in the conversation with Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his fellow teammate Trevon Diggs for Defensive Player of the Year.
With five games left in the 2021 season, it’ll be interesting to see where Parsons ends up in terms of stats. Regardless of where that is, more coins are headed to his bank account soon with this move.
