Micah Parsons in early gets a lot of work Rushing the Passer Saturday

Micah Parsons has been one of the most intriguing players to follow in the early stages of training camp. As the Cowboys hit the practice field in Oxnard, California, it didn’t take long for Parsons’ athleticism to stand out. On Saturday, Parsons’ versatility is what carried the day as he began getting work as a pass rusher for the Dallas Cowboys.

Showing up early to practice, Parsons got work in with Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn on what looks to be the finer points of rushing off the edge.

The Cowboys aren’t shying away from giving Parsons reps against top competition as noted by Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Parsons, doing work on the other end of the field was called upon to take a rep rushing against All-Pro Tackle Tyron Smith.

Parsons displays great burst and acceleration from a two-point stance. Although Tyron Smith swallows him whole, as he does to most edge rushers, Parsons fights hard to win the rep. It was an impressive all-around day for the Cowboys’ first-round pick as he showed off his athleticism in coverage as well.

Early to arrive, late to leave, Parsons is showing a high work ethic as he continued to get work after practice with Tyron Smith. Micah Parsons seems eager to learn the trade of professional football and even more eager to enhance his pass rush ability.

It’s a great sign for Dan Quinn and the Dallas Cowboys’ defense that Parsons is so eager to learn the multiple roles he’ll play for the Dallas Cowboys. They desperately need playmakers on this defense to help improve upon their 2020 performance. If Micah Parsons can continue to build upon the foundation he’s laying in the early days of training camp, he’ll be a productive player for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.
