Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month Thursday.
Parsons had a great start to the year, registering four sacks, 12 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and five tackles for loss through the first three games in 2023.
It’s hard to believe this is Parsons’s first time winning a Defensive Player of the Month award.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs won the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award in September 2021, while defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence earned the nod in September 2017.

Linebacker Sean Lee won it twice, in September 2011 and again in October 2013.
“Rightfully deserved,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said regarding Parsons winning the award.
“I think he was definitely Defensive Player of the Year of training camp, too. So he’s really stepped it up. I’m very very pleased with the way Micah has attacked the season so far.”
A lot of football is still yet to be played, but he could be well on his way to the Defensive Player of the Year award he is eying for.
He also wants to win a Super Bowl, both he very well could do this season.
Let’s see what they bring to the Pats game on Sunday.
Parsons and the rest of the defense will look to get back on track this Sunday.
The defense gave up over 200 yards on the ground last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
The 180 rushing yards the Cowboys allowed in the first half were the most allowed by any team in a first half this season and the most the Cowboys have allowed in a first half since at least 1991.

I wonder if they overlooked the Cardinals or had an awful day.
Many folks have been discussing putting Parsons in the same category as the best to do it. Lawrence Taylor.
Although Parsons is doing everything he can to be at his level, let’s let the rest of his career play out.
Bill Belichick talked about Parsons ahead of this week’s matchup but said he wouldn’t put anyone ahead of LT.
“But personally, I’m not putting anybody ahead of Lawrence Taylor. Not yet,” Belichick said.
Belichick still talked about the greatness of Parsons, saying that you have to be aware of him because wherever Dan Quinn puts him, there’s usually some action going on.
Belichick doesn’t like to talk much; almost everyone knows that, so he kept it short and sweet.
We will see what type of impact he will have on Sunday. Both the offense and the defense will rebound.
The offense will be just fine in the red zone. Fixing that is easier than fixing how to get there.

The defense without Diggs on the backend feels more pressure.
Nonetheless, they should still be a top-five defense in the league.
“We were beating ourselves,” Parsons said Wednesday, but everything’s fixed, it’s getting fixed and we’re looking forward to proving it this week.”
Let’s hope he is right because following the Pats on Sunday, Dallas will take on the Niners, and it’s time for Dallas to make a statement.
