Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones relationship is at the breaking point

As we prepare for another week of summer, why am I not surprised that a random report in the middle of June has poked its head out about Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones?

Now I understand this is probably all typical drama, and these places just want us to read into it like we are doing right now, yet, I may find some truth in Mike McCarthy being “fed up,” with Jerry Jones.

“It is crazy what’s going on,” one former Cowboys personnel said about the offseason drama at the Star. “And it doesn’t ever really change.”

Maybe The Tention Is Real?

Big Mike will never come out and say he is fed up with the man who writes his checks, but you can get the hint that maybe he is annoyed he didn’t do anything to make this team better in the final year of his contract.

After the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round, Jones promised that his team would take an ”all-in” approach to the offseason. They did not even remotely get better in any way.

That would annoy the heck out of me also!

That former personnel member of the Dallas Cowboys said “McCarthy’s doing it the best he can,” some of the people I’ve talked to have said that he’s getting fed up with it a little bit. It’s hard. I feel bad for Dak. I think Dak’s a really good quarterback who is capable of taking a team to the Super Bowl. He’s got to overcome a lot of things.”

Now we aren’t sure who this guy is but he told all of this according to a report from Tyler Dunne of Go Long, a blog about the latest NFL news. He was also a former NFL reporter, so this isn’t something he would make up.

2024 Is It

Jerry Jones has done this before. He let Jason Garrett coach the final year of his deal during his first contract, went 13-3, and lost in the playoffs, but Jerry still resigned him.

Look, I am not defending Mike McCarthy, but I will say this. Jerry, if you did not let him go after the loss to Green Bay, you have to give him something to work with.

I mean at the least maybe sign your best offensive player in CeeDee Lamb. That would be a start.

We aren’t sure what is going to happen to Dak Prescott, but let’s be honest with ourselves, 2024 could be the last time in a while we see this team even compete for the playoffs.

This offseason has been odd. Jerry always wants the Cowboys to be talked about, whether it is good or bad.

At the end of the day, this news just seemed like a slow news day, and someone needed to get some readers. I do think McCarthy is probably a bit annoyed with how Jerry has handled this offseason, but what is he supposed to do?

If you don’t want to sign any big-name free agents, fine. But how about getting your best player on both sides of the ball what they want to make sure they don’t hold out?

He can’t even do that. We all heard McCarthy talk about Micah Parsons when he was not in the building a few weeks ago, and time lost in not good in a new Mike Zimmer defence.

My final guess is that even if this team goes 12-5 again, but does not make the NFC title game, McCarthy will be gone.

At some point this team has got to play a meaningful game.
