It may only be Week 3 but few would deny that the Cowboys are the class of the NFC East after these early games. That’s now official as Dallas moved to 2-1 after last night’s rout of the Philadelphia Eagles, making them the only winning team in the division.
The Cowboys checked a few boxes with the victory; staying above .500, undefeated in division play, a head-to-head win over Philly, and 1-0 at home. Of course there’s a lot of season left to render any of these things meaningless, but for now it’s the right recipe for winning a division and getting back to the playoffs.
Washington dropped to 1-2 after getting manhandled by the Buffalo Bills. QB Taylor Heinicke came back to earth with a rough game and the Football Team’s ballyhooed defense had no answer for Josh Allen.
Meanwhile in New York, the Giants lost at home to the previously winless Atlanta Falcons and are trying to keep pace with the Jets for the worst team in their city. Question are already coming about Jason Garrett’s longevity as offensive coordinator as Big Blue appears headed for a big implosion.
Dallas has a good opportunity to maintain their lead, or even build on it, in Week 4. They host the Carolina Panthers, who are 3-0 but coming off an easy stretch of games. Washington will be on the road against Atlanta and the Eagles will be hosting Andy Reid and the Chiefs.
And the Giants will be on the road against New Orleans, which I guess is worth mentioning. But only barely.
