We are officially at 91 days until the Cowboys seek revenge against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from last year’s Week 1 loss on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, and while that seems far away, don’t worry because you can think about it this way.

That is only two months and 30 days away. Fine, if you don’t like months, it’s only 13 weeks. Don’t like that either? Well, it’s only 2184 hours, and for those who go off on how many more Sundays you have to suffer without football, the answer is above (13).

Anyways, rather than breaking down 91 reasons to be excited (because I’m sure some fans would love to read a novel), I wanted to recognize the Greatest 91 in Cowboys History, and this is Mr. L.P. Ladouceur.

Ladouceur’s Dallas Cowboys Career:

Before being signed from a tryout in 2005 by the Dallas Cowboys, Ladouceur got drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 CFL (Canadian Football League) Draft by the Ottawa Renegades, but he never played a snap for them.

Ladouceur would get signed as UDFA by the New Orleans Saints in 2005, then waived, and he would try out for the Cowboys after their third game of the regular season. The club was having trouble with former long snapper Jon Condo, and in his debut in Week 4, Ladouceur had two clean FG snaps and five clean punts.

The rest would be history, as Ladouceur would play for the Boys for sixteen years straight and would go down as arguably one of the greatest special teams players ever to rock the Star.

Some records and accolades that he holds include most NFL games played by a Canadian-born player (251), second all-time in most games played by a Cowboys player (253), most consecutive snaps played by an NFL long snapper ever, a 2014 Pro Bowl selection, and top it off– no snaps EVER botched.

Ladouceur retired in 2021 after the Cowboys decided not to re-sign him for his 17th season, but he is the ultimate 91 in my book. Look out for more posts that count down the season opener, and let us know who you would choose as the greatest players for those days.
