NFL Playoff Picture: Who could the Cowboys play?

As the 2022 NFL season is starting to come to an end quite fast, the playoff picture begins to shrink as some teams’ chances to make it are snuffed out. The Dallas Cowboys are rather safe at the moment as they sit in the 5th seed with an 8-3 record.

What are some of the teams the Cowboys could play in the 2022 NFL Playoffs?

At the moment, the Philadelphia Eagles hold the #1 seed and will most likely get a bye week in the playoffs, unless they lose a few games here and there.

If the Eagles were to lose, the Cowboys could take over as the #1 or #2 seed in the playoffs, but the Cowboys would have to keep winning and probably not lose another game.

For now, the Cowboys seem to have a lock at the fifth seed, so who would they face?

They would most likely play an NFC South team, such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Atlanta Falcons. As bad as the Bucs are doing right now, it’s still always scary to play Tom Brady because he has never lost to the Cowboys in his career.

Another team that they may play in the first round is the San Francisco 49ers.

ANYBODY but the 49ers, please.

I’d want the Cowboys to play any other team than them, in the playoffs, again.

It would be rather funny to see a final score of 7-9 due to each team having the #1 and #2 defenses in the NFL.

Those two teams are the more probable ones the Cowboys will play when entering the first round, but what about the second round?

If the Cowboys hold the five seed, then there’s an actual chance they could play the Eagles again for a third and final rematch on the season.

This would only occur in the second round if both the 2 and 3 seed won their games.

I do believe that the Cowboys will eventually play an NFC East team if they get past the first round.

Another fun scenario would be if every NFC East team did get into the playoffs. This would be madness as the Eagles would hold the number one seed and then three of the teams from their same division would battle it out against three other teams from separate divisions.

What would be even more fun is if the Giants, Commanders, and Cowboys all won in the first round.

It would secure a spot in the Super Bowl for an NFC East team to get in. However, the likelihood of this is next to nothing.

It’s always fun to picture playoff matchups and see what could occur with each game.

The playoffs are still little ways out, however, the Cowboys should start preparing for it. Everyone knows the Cowboys have struggled in the postseason over the last decade and need to show that they are still a juggernaut in the NFL.

This close finish between the NFC East is very fun this year, as the Cowboys can still grab the top seed if things go right.

I can’t wait for more fun playoff contenders to show up in the following weeks. Be sure to be on the lookout to see who’s likely to play the Cowboys in the playoffs this year.
