Welp.

After shocking the world a week ago and defeating the Los Angeles Rams in dominant fashion, things felt pretty good around The Star. The Cowboys had found their winning ways once again, and were heading to Philadelphia with a chance to clinch a playoff birth.

Instead of asserting their will against an assumed lesser opponent, the injured Eagles controlled the game from start to finish, defeating the Cowboys 17-9 and taking control of the NFC East with just one game to play.

This was a total failure all over the field. Now, the defense did play well enough after a slow start to keep an embarrassment of an offense alive for all four quarters, so I have to give them credit for that. But this offense was downright putrid.

Even when they did move the ball, boneheaded mistakes and turnovers did them in. Fumbles, drops, poor throws – you name it, the Cowboys did it tonight.

Dallas came into this game as road favorites, expected by just about everyone to play to their ability and clinch this division. Dak Prescott did not show up. Amari Cooper did not show up. And overall, the Dallas Cowboys did not show up.

This is the most underperforming, disappointing version of the Dallas Cowboys in about a decade, maybe longer. And they truly don’t deserve the playoff spot they were fighting for today.

The 7-8 Cowboys will face the lowly Washington Redskins next week, in what will likely be the final game of the Jason Garrett era.

Or, maybe more accurately said: should be the final game of the Jason Garrett era in Dallas.
