The Cowboys are only entering day three of training camp on Friday, but a few takeaways have come to light after only two days.
A few of these moments I anticipated early in camp. Players are still grinding, but some have jumped off the screen early. Will these continue, or how will the rest of the training camp shake out for the next couple of weeks?
The first player I want to address is Jalen Tolbert. The rookie is going to be a stud. You can already see the chemistry with Dak Prescott. He has lined up in multiple spots and ran plenty of routes you would expect from a guy who made huge plays in college after he got the ball in his hands.

Micah Parsons is still good…. He has been pressing Terence Steele early the first two days. These guys are going without pads on. That makes a HUGE difference, but Todd Archer highlighted that Steele was beaten twice by Parsons early in team drills. Parsons then tried a spin move, and Steele held his ground. It is hard not to talk about him when he does everything so well, the luxury of being able to line him up anywhere and just have him make a play is incrediable.

The battle between the offense and defense will increase as we get deeper into camp. The first padded practice will take place on August 1. Next week is going to be fun.
One last thing of note to add, which is not a huge shock, but the defense looks good. Defensive backs are flying around, Anthony Brown is sharp, and the defense is ahead of the offense after the first two days. That is not a shock as they return most of its guys from a season ago.
The offense will be fine. Tony Pollard is catching passes as a receiving back (finally). Dalton Schultz has looked like Dak Prescott’s guy in the first few days, but that is not a surprise. We should see more of the newly signed KaVontae Turpin going forward. The USFL MVP was signed yesterday by Dallas, and went through some individual drills.
Things are only ramping up, but it is fun to be able to watch the Cowboys get after it again.
