After filling three of their needs on Day One and Day Two, the Dallas Cowboys stayed on the offensive side of the ball after selecting South Alabama WR Jalen Tolbert in the previous round and drafted Wisconsin TE Jake Ferguson with the 129th Pick.
Entering this year’s draft, some people argued that the franchise could put off selecting a TE given they have TE Dalton Schultz on the team, but with his future cloudy–the club pulled the trigger on Ferguson.
For the fans who don’t know much about him, you can expect to see a player who’s very similar to Schultz, and with this selection–it’s likely the franchise would feel comfortable moving on from Schultz next offseason. While I’m not advocating for Ferguson to start right away, it should be interesting to see if he will beat out TEs Sean McKeon and Jeremy Sprinkle for the TE2 gig.

Jake Ferguson vs Sean McKeon will be a fun camp/preseason battle.

I'm just not a big Jake Ferguson fan. VERY meh.

Pains me to see #Badgers TE Jake Ferguson go off the board to the #Cowboys — I think he’s going to make a bigger impact as a receiving option at the NFL level than people expect. And you know he’s a dog as a blocker. At least they didn’t get Leo Chenal 😂

Wisconsin TE Jake Ferguson at 129 is solid. Won’t be as flashy, but he’s about as reliable as they come at the catch point and can help right away as a blocker.
Similar to the other fourth round tight end on the roster that the Cowboys selected a couple years ago.

Jake Ferguson is your Schultz replacement. Catches underneath, not overly dynamic, but can block, & is cheap

LOVE the Jake Ferguson pick for the #Cowboys
Good receiver, well-rounded blocker, and better after the catch than credited. Not a stud athlete/body size guy, but a good all-around player.
7th TE on my board but would be higher if I didn't weight the passing gm a bit higher.

You can't convince me Dallas is drafting BPA.
They are forcing picks right now at positions of need.
Bad way to draft.

Cowboys source on Jake Ferguson: "Physical, athletic, tough, potential to be an all-around TE."
