Out of all the 32 NFL teams, it’s always an honor to be crowned the best defense. Now even though the season just started recently, it’s not too early to choose which team has the best defense in the league. While there’s much debate about this particular topic, it’s pretty clear that the Dallas Cowboys have a solid defense overall. They’ve allowed opponents only an average of 15.5 points per game this season.
Most people expected the Cowboys defense to be good this year but not too many projected that it would be THIS good. Lots of credit goes to Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn. Dan has managed to turn this team around going into his 2nd year with the Cowboys.
A tweet from Linebacker Micah Parsons back in January pretty much sums up how all the players feel about Dan’s coaching.

It seems that many defensive players respect Dan a lot and know that his talent is a big reason why they are holding teams to an average of 15.5 points a game. Parsons is an unstoppable force that puts loads of pressure on quarterbacks. This guy’s goal is to win Defensive Player of the Year and at the moment, he’s looking at a decent chance.
Parsons has a total of four sacks and 14 tackles this year already. He is also a big reason why other team members like DE* DeMarcus Lawrence are more capable of getting sacks and tackles.
Another superstar is Cornerback Trevon Diggs. This special cornerback is always hungry for interceptions. Diggs already has two picks this year and has been blocking many pass attempts. Last game his receiver was targeted 12 times and Diggs only allowed 2 receptions. That is an amazing stat and that kind of defense wins games.
I can shout out many other stars like Anthony Brown and Anthony Barr. Those are just a couple of the great players on the defense this year.
Now let’s get back to the main question, do the Cowboys have the best defense in the NFL?
Yes, I would say they do. While our offense is looking shaky right now with lots of drama regarding Cooper Rush and Dak Prescott, it’s safe to say that this defense is unstoppable.
Another amazing stat to help prove this argument is the fact that there are only two NFL teams that have held their opponents under 20 points this year. Those two teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers.
While most dads and grandparents sit on their recliners, they all have a unique set of dialogue that speaks each NFL season. “Defense wins championships.” If I have to guess, I’d think Dan Quinn and the whole Cowboys defense are taking this quote seriously this year as each game they play they are determined to do their best and get the job done.
