The Dallas Cowboys are signing free agent Tight End Jeremy Sprinkle. He’s spent the last four years as a backup and occasional starter for Washington.
Since joining the Football Team as a 5th-round pick in 2017, Sprinkle has in nearly every game and has 33 starts under his belt. Listed at 6’5″ and 255 lbs., the 26-year-old is mostly used as a blocker and has minimal receiving stats.
This gives the Cowboys a replacement for veteran Blake Bell, who served one year as a blocking TE in Dallas before joining returning to Kansas City as a free agent in March.

Though Blake Jarwin is set to return and Dalton Schultz is still around, Dallas needed additional depth after losing Bell. The remaining tight ends under contract like Cole Hikutini and Sean McKeon have been practice squad guys with minimal experience.
It remains to be seen how Jarwin will look after missing nearly all of 2020 with an ACL injury. Adding Sprinkle greatly improves the depth at TE but still gives the Cowboys their same options in the upcoming draft.
If Florida’s Kyle Pitts somehow falls to the 10th pick, this addition does nothing to change Dallas’ ability or desire to select him.
Easy as it is to dismiss signings like these in March and April, you never know how things will play out over the rest of the year. Dalton Schultz was an afterthought going into 2020 and look how significant he became?
Now that he’s joined the good guys in the NFC East, we’ll see how Jeremy Sprinkle helps the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.
