The Dallas Cowboys made one of their bigger splashes in recent memory this offseason, trading for former Pro Bowl and All Pro defensive end Robert Quinn.
Quinn, who is expected to be a pass rushing menace opposite DeMarcus Lawrence, has gotten off to a not-so-great start thus far, however.
After suffering a fractured hand which required surgery earlier this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is now reporting that Robert Quinn will be suspended the first two games of the 2019 season due to violation of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Quinn was expected to be back for the Cowboys’ week one matchup with the Giants despite his hand injury, though, and underwent successful surgery this week. Now, he’ll miss both the season opener and the second game of the year against Washington as well.
Quinn’s agent, Sean Kiernan released a statement shortly after the news of the suspension broke, attributing this failed test to a sort of cross contamination with his seizure medication. According to Kiernan, the amounts of the drug found in his failed test was too small to truly be a “masking agent.”

Regardless of the reasoning behind the failed test, it will be Dorance Armstrong’s time to shine and prove that his training camp performance so far is not a fluke whatsoever. Armstrong has been balling day in and day out at practice lately, and should get his chance to compete for a starting job by week one.
