Tony Pollard suffered a foot injury on his electrifying 58-yard touchdown run against the New Orleans Saints last week. It was diagnosed as a torn left plantar fascia and his status for the Dallas Cowboys Week 14 matchup against the Washington Football Team was uncertain.
All the speculation can be put to rest now. After being listed as questionable all week, Pollard has been ruled out against Washington.
Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) won’t play today at Washington, source said. Decision seems to have been made well before pregame workout at FedEx Field. Rookie JaQuan Hardy to appear today in first career NFL game.

Pollard has taken full advantage of the opportunities he’s gotten in 2021. His 602 yards (5.6 yards per rush) rank 20th in the NFL and his speed and one-cut ability make him the perfect complement to Ezekiel Elliott and his smash-mouth style.
Speaking of Elliott, there were concerns that he might not play against Washington either as he is currently dealing with a knee issue. However, he’ll start, and with Pollard out, Elliott will receive the lion’s share of the carries.
The hope for Dallas is that this only keeps Pollard out for one game and he can return to being their change of pace runner next week against the New York Giants.
