The Dallas Cowboys got some fantastic news today about their starting free safety. According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Xavier Woods is expected to play this Sunday against the Saints without any limitations.

Woods suffered a high ankle sprain in the Cowboys week two victory over the Washington Redskins. The original timetable for his return was 4-6 weeks, but DallasCowboys.com’s Bryan Broaddus tweeted that Woods wouldn’t be out that long, and in fact, might only miss one game. All signs point to that being the case as Woods would have only missed last week’s blow out win over the Miami Dolphins.
Safety Darian Thompson was pretty solid last week in place of Woods with 3 tackles and a pass breakup, now it’s time to get the Cowboys rising star at free safety back to pair with the hard-hitting Jeff Heath, who has had a good start to the 2019 season with 16 tackles and 4 passes defended. Even without Drew Brees, the Saints have weapons like Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara for backup Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to attack with. The news of Xavier Woods expecting to see the field Sunday has to have the Cowboys ecstatic heading into the weekend.
