REPORT: Cowboys Sign CB Maurice Canady

The Dallas Cowboys continued their busy week of free agency this afternoon, reportedly signing cornerback Maurice Canady to a one year deal.

Canady is a former sixth round pick of the Baltimore Ravens back in 2016, and remained with the team until November of 2019. He joined the Jets midway through last season, starting a combined three games between the two teams in 2019.

Canady finished last season with one interception, a forced fumble, five passes defended, and 46 total tackles.

I wouldn’t expect him to be a starting corner for the Cowboys in 2020, but he will be competing for those depth spots during training camp. He’s only 25 years old, so the Cowboys are betting on upside with Canady here.

Still, I doubt Canady stops the Cowboys from looking at big name cornerbacks during the 2020 NFL Draft.
