The Dallas Cowboys continue to make moves to bolster their coaching staff as they venture into the 2020 offseason. With most of his staff set, Head Coach Mike McCarthy has added another name to his coaching staff.
Rob Davis has not only joined Mike McCarthy's coaching staff in Dallas but his title is assistant head coach, sources said. A surprise considering he's never actually been on a coaching staff. He was director of player development with the Packers,… https://t.co/Fs0s9BkIx6

Sources tell Rob Demovsky, who covers the Green Bay Packers for ESPN, the Cowboys are bringing on the Packers’ former Director of Player Development Rob Davis to the coaching staff. With Dallas, he’ll serve as Assistant Head Coach. As Demovsky notes, it does come as a surprise that they would bring on someone who’s never had any coaching experience to be an Assistant Head Coach.
Prior to joining the Packers in the football operations department, Davis was a long snapper for the Packers from 1996-2007. He then worked in the Packers front office from 2008 to 2017 as the Director of Player Development. After the 2017 season, Davis stepped away from the Packers to work in the manufacturing sector as the Senior Director, People and Culture, for Pierce Manufacturing. In 2019, he was promoted to Senior Director for Operational Excellence.
It remains to be seen exactly what his role on the coaching staff will be, but from past experience, it appears that he’ll be charged with mentoring players to grow both on and off the field. For the Cowboys, it can’t hurt to have someone with his experience to help players find the balance in their responsibilities as players with some of the business and personal opportunities those players may have off the field.
Davis comes to the Cowboys with a breadth of experience on an organizational level along with the skills to mentor and assist individuals to achieve personal growth.
