After several interviews for head-coaching vacancies throughout the NFL, Dan Quinn has reportedly informed his suitors that he will be returning to the Cowboys in 2022. Quinn spent last year as Dallas’ defensive coordinator and helped spark a dramatic turnaround on that side of the ball.
After his five-plus seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, which included a trip to the Super Bowl in 2016, Quinn’s experience and work with Dallas’ defense got him in talks with the Bears, Broncos, Dolphins, Giants, Jaguars, and Vikings that we’ve heard about. But after Chicago and Denver announced their hires of other candidates this week, it appears Quinn would rather commit to the Cowboys than entertain other options.
Cowboys DC Dan Quinn confirmed to me that he has, indeed, told teams that he’s decided to stay in Dallas. Returned to town last night after interviewing with the Bears.
The Joneses love him and wanted him back badly. And he had more fun coaching last year than he has in years. https://t.co/fcW7GrF59g

The prospect of returning to work with young superstars like Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs has to be a huge draw for Quinn. While the Cowboys do have some free agency concerns with Randy Gregory, Jayron Kearse, and others from last year’s defense, guys like Parsons, Diggs, Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, Kelvin Joseph, and others make up a strong, youthful core that Dan can build on going forward.
Despite all of the hoopla about their potential departures, it now appears that both Dan Quinn and Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore may be back in 2022. But while some are dubious about Moore’s continued work on offense, everyone should be thrilled to see Quinn running it back with the Cowboys next year!
