According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys and Running Back Ezekiel Elliott are working to end Zeke’s holdout and sign a new contract by the end of the weekend. The agreement would have Elliott back with the team next week as they prepare for the season opener against the New York Giants.

Beginning his holdout at the start of training camp, Zeke hasn’t been with the Cowboys at all during their time in Oxnard or throughout the preseason.

With roster cuts due by 4pm EST today, this means one of Jordan Chunn, Alfred Morris, or Mike Weber may make the team but then be released once Elliott reports.

With Tony Pollard locked in as the number-two RB, the decision on who to keep could come down to special teams. While Dallas values Morris’ experience, the veteran doesn’t offer any help outside of the offense.

The ripple effect will come, but the real news here is that Ezekiel Elliott should be back with the Cowboys for the entire regular season!
