The Dallas Cowboys today have been dealt another blow in the wake of their 26-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day. Though they received some injury good news on Amari Cooper earlier today, the news wasn’t so good for one of their starting offensive linemen.
Todd Archer of ESPN is reporting that Cowboys’ starting Left Guard Connor a Williams has suffered a torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL) in his right knee and will be out for the rest of the season.

It’s a huge blow for Connor Williams who has dealt with injuries off and on since his rookie season. This set back will further delay his development at left guard and hurts the interior offensive line tremendously.
The Dallas Cowboys will now be forced to insert backup left guard Xavier Su’a-Filo into the starting lineup. The results with Su’a-Filo have been mixed at times.
He had a solid couple games filling in for Williams in 2018, but his play dropped off and Williams was able to retake his spot in the starting lineup.
Depending on how his recovery goes, he might not be available for the start of the regular season in 2020. That’s a huge loss for a the Cowboys and their former second-round pick. Young players need to play to develop and this will slow his progress.
With the Dallas Cowboys in must-win mode from here on out, they couldn’t afford to lose a starter at any position on the team. How they are able to overcome this loss will write the story for the rest of the 2019 season. If they can minimize the impact the loss of Connor Williams may have on the offense, they should be able to be competitive in their final four games and have a chance to win the NFC East.
