REPORT: Prescott Rehabbing at Cowboys Facility, Contract Talks Improving

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have become the NFL’s version of Jim & Pam or Sam & Diane; football’s own “will they, won’t they” story. This makes the littlest signs and details matters of public interest, and today we got a new nugget regarding where the two parties stand in their ongoing contract talks.

Earlier this morning, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported on Prescott’s position regarding the money he wants in his next deal. While the Cowboys and Dak aren’t yet on the same page with this contract, a new report from Slater just a few minutes ago gives some cause for hope.

As Slater asserts, Dak’s presence at Cowboys facilities is meaningful.  We’ve seen other contract talks where the player stays away from the team completely until the deal is done.

This tells us about Prescott’s desire to remain in Dallas. It also says that things between him and the Cowboys front office aren’t so bad that he doesn’t feel comfortable being on site.

The second part of that tweet is just as noteworthy. After over a year of stalemate between the Joneses and Todd France over Dak’s contract, any time one of the two parties speaks to progress is significant.  You’d be surprised how quickly one of these simple comments quickly ramps up to a finished contract.

Sure, this news isn’t monumental on its own merit. But even a sliver of positivity is welcome to any Cowboys fan who wants to see Dak Prescott get his long-term contract, and it could be a sign of something happening during these critical few weeks before free agency begins.
