Yesterday we took a look at the first 15 picks of a mock draft courtesy of Fox Sports’ Jason McIntrye. Jason is a co-host of The Herd and a Fox Sports betting analyst. Today, we check out the remaining 16 picks of Jason’s mock draft.
Yes, I said 16. You’ll be reminded why there’s only 31 picks, instead of 32, in this year’s draft. For now, on with the mock:
Right Position, Wrong Order
16: Washington Commanders — Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
The Commanders will likely go with an offensive lineman. But if they do go with a tight end, I suspect Jason has this pick reversed with the next one. Kincaid should be the first tight end to go.
17: Pittsburgh Steelers — Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
Jason has the right position, but the wrong player. Mayer goes here.
18: Detroit Lions — Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois
The Lions need defensive help, especially in their backfield. I think Jason has it right.
19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson
The Bucs defense is so old it’s nearly mummified. Murphy would be a quality pick, as would any defensive player. But… Tampa Bay could be a team that trades up into Arizona’s #3 pick. That means Tom Brady’s replacement.
20: Seattle Seahawks — Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh
To be honest, he fits the Seahawks mold of a defensive lineman. I think this pick will happen.
Where Will Bijan Robinson Fall To
21: Los Angeles Chargers — Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Jason seems to think the Chargers will part ways with Austin Ekeler. I don’t see that happening. Nor do I see them taking Robinson. Look for an offensive linemen to go here.
22: Baltimore Ravens — Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
Jason also thinks Lamar Jackson is gone from Baltimore. Frankly, I don’t think any of the other 31 teams wants him. But I do think it makes sense for the Ravens to take Hooker and start planning for the future.
23: Minnesota Vikings — Joey Porter, CB, Penn State
This is a smart pick for the Vikings to make.
24: Jacksonville Jaguars — Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
The Jags need to protect Trevor Lawrence a lot better. Wright would go a long way in doing just that.
25: New York Giants — Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU
Daniel Jones needs targets to throw to and Johnston would be a nice playmaker for the Giants.
With the 26th Pick, The Dallas Cowboys Select…
26: Dallas Cowboys — O’Cyrus Torrence, OL, Florida
Yes, Dallas needs help on the o-line. But seriously, if Bijan Robinson is available when the Cowboys go on the clock with the 26th pick… All I’m saying is, Torrence would be a good pick if Robinson is no longer sitting back stage on Thursday night.
And do we really want to see Robinson twice a year in an Eagles’ uniform? There’s no way they don’t take him with the 30th pick if he’s sitting there. I’d rather see him with a blue star, not a silver wing, on his helmet the next 10 years.
27: Buffalo Bills — Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
Like many teams this year, the Bills need to address a leaky o-line. Harrison, or Torrence, would do so nicely.
28: Cincinnati Bengals — Bryan Bresee, DL, Clemson
The Bengals’ pass rush is the only reason why they didn’t play in back-to-back Super Bowls the last two seasons. Bresee would address this weakness.
29: New Orleans Saints — Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland
I can’t argue for or against this one.
30: Philadelphia Eagles — Jordan Addison, WR, USC
The Eagles need way too much help on the defensive side of the ball. And I think they have all they need at this position.
31: Kansas City Chiefs — Will McDonald IV, Edge, Iowa
I think this is another pick where Jason has them reversed. I can see McDonald in Philly and Addison in Kansas City instead.
32: Nobody – Nothing.
The Miami Dolphins were stripped of their first-round pick in this year’s draft. The Dolphins were found to have tampered with both Tom Brady and Sean Payton and paid the price. They also landed neither a Super Bowl winning quarterback or a Super Bowl winning head coach.
