Thanksgiving Showdown: Injury Report Ahead of Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Commanders

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, and with it comes the annual Dallas Cowboys Thursday game at AT&T Stadium.

This time around the Washington Commanders come to town.

The Commanders have a 4-7 record after their loss to the lowly New York Giants this past Sunday.

Dallas is high off of a road win at the Carolina Panthers that improved their record to 7-3, and hope to knock off this division rival to move to 8-3.

On the injury front, Dallas has been as healthy as can be expected in the middle of the season.

This week may prove different, however, as there are a few injuries to keep an eye on in a short week.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys officially listed eight players on their Week 12 injury report.

Technically it’s nine players, but I’m leaving out Tyron Smith, who is listed as a DNP for rest.

Doubtful

S Jayron Kearse (back)

Starting S Jayron Kearse is dealing with a back issue suffered in the victory at Carolina.

He did not practice Monday or Tuesday, and according to HC Mike McCarthy early Wednesday, he would need to practice to be considered for the game on Thursday.

He did not practice, and Kearse has all but been ruled out for the game.

Juanyeh Thomas looks to get the bulk of the snaps in his stead if Kearse is inactive, while Sheldrick Redwine was called up from the practice squad.

Questionable

RB Rico Dowdle (ankle)

RB Rico Dowdle twisted his ankle in the first walk-through practice of the week and is officially questionable for Thursday’s game.

Should he not suit up tomorrow, Deuce Vaughn could take some carries in relief of Tony Pollard.

It’s also possible Malik Davis could get called up from the practice squad.

No Designation

DT Johnathan Hankins (personal), TE Peyton Hendershot (ankle), WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), DT Osa Odighizuwa (hamstring), T Terence Steele (ankle), WR KaVontae Turpin (shoulder)

The majority of the Cowboys’ injury report are players who enter the Thanksgiving game with no injury designation.

It remains to be seen if Peyton Hendershot will be activated from IR.

KaVontae Turpin, who missed Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, is expected to play and resume his kick/punt return duties along with certain packages on offense.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders officially listed 11 players on their injury report for Week 12.

Out

DE James Smith-Williams (hamstring), FB Alex Armah (hamstring), CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. (elbow), DL Efe Obada (leg), LB De’Jon Harris (quad)

Washington will be without two of their pieces on defense this Thursday with DE James Smith-Williams and CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. ruled out.

Lead-blocking FB Alex Armah is also ruled out, suffering from a sore hamstring.

DL Efe Obada and LB De’Jon Harris were placed on Injured Reserve by the team on Monday.

Questionable

RB Antonio Gibson (toe), LB Khaleke Hudson (back)

RB Antonio Gibson and LB Khaleke Hudson are both questionable for Washington this week.

Gibson, dealing with a toe injury, will attempt to be available to spell lead back Brian Robinson.

Hudson is nursing a sore back and will leave the linebacker corps thin if he can’t participate.

No Designation

LB Cody Barton (ankle), G Sam Cosmi (chest), DB Jartavius Martin (shoulder), WR Curtis Samuel (toe)

All of the players listed above go into the game with no designation on the injury report.
