The Dallas Cowboys need to trade for DeAndre Hopkins

There seems to be a fire sale happening soon in Arizona. The Arizona Cardinals have seen the departures of key players such as Defensive Ends J.J. Watt and Zach Allen, as well as Wide Receiver Chosen Anderson.

Now with star Safety Budda Baker requesting a trade, the 2023 season is looking bleak for the Cardinals.

Kyler Murray is rehabbing a torn ACL, and his availability is unknown.

Star WR DeAndre Hopkins patiently awaits as he’s made it known he no longer wants to be a Cardinal.

After the Dallas Cowboys traded for Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans, many fans wrote off the addition of Hopkins. That shouldn’t be the case as there is no such thing as a crowded wide receiver room.

Adding Hopkins to the Cowboys ensures there are enough bodies should injuries occur.

As seen last offseason during training camp, the signing of free agent James Washington was a notable one.

Washington was expected to help ease the departure of Amari Cooper and give Dak Prescott another weapon. Instead, Washington suffered a season-ending injury.

The Cowboys looked toward Noah Brown to fill that role.

Although Cooks is a talented receiver, he’s not Hopkins. He has struggled with injuries before and consistency in recent years.

Hopkins on the other hand is a model of consistency.

Hopkins went four straight years putting up over 1,000 receiving yards. Hopkins’s skillset mixed with his size, speed, and route running make him an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses to match up against.

A receiver corp including CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup is good. Adding Hopkins makes it great.

The addition of Hopkins is also a security blanket should Gallup not be his normal self from before his ACL injury. As seen last season Gallup was a shell of himself when he returned from his absence due to injury.

The Cowboys are a much better team when they have an arsenal of weapons.

Dak is a much better quarterback when he has an arsenal of weapons.

Giving Dak another Pro Bowl wide receiver in Hopkins is beneficial for the Cowboys’ chances of winning games.

The Cardinals’ asking price for Hopkins earlier this month was a bit high. However, now with the Cardinals’ future looking bleak, they might be open to trading him at a lower cost.

Some trade scenarios that can work would be Gallup plus picks for Hopkins.

Breaking: CB Jourdan Lewis' season is over with foot injury 1

Another scenario would be the Cowboys saying goodbye to beloved cornerback, Jourdan Lewis.

Lewis was injured for most of the 2022 season. The addition of Stephon Gilmore as well as the emergence of rookie corner DaRon Bland leaves Lewis as the odd man out.

Back in 2021, Lewis earned a three-year contract worth up to 16.5 million dollars. This money can be better spent trading for DeAndre Hopkins.

Let’s not forget, Cooks restructured his deal with the Cowboys.

Cooks’ restructured deal will now save the Cowboys six million in salary cap space for the 2023 season. This allows the Cowboys to have more flexibility with money and to sign or trade for another player who can instantly make an impact.

There’s no doubt that the Cowboys are in win mode now.

They have a roster built for contending for the Super Bowl. Adding Hopkins will increase their chances of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
