Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw Will Present Jimmy Johnson at 2020 HOF Ceremony

Former Dallas Cowboys’ coach Jimmy Johnson will finally receive his overdue induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class. Jimmy announced yesterday that he would be presented by his former quarterback and current FOX Sports colleague Troy Aikman, as well as Steelers’ great Terry Bradshaw.

Aikman was Johnson’s first draft pick, the number-one selection in the 1989 NFL Draft, and they won two Super Bowls together. Troy now works on the lead broadcast team for FOX while Johnson and Bradshaw are longstanding members of the network’s main NFL studio team.

While other Cowboys greats from the 90s such as Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and Larry Allen have had Owner Jerry Jones present them at their induction ceremonies, Troy Aikman broke from that and was presented by former Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner.

It’s especially unsurprising that Jimmy would choose someone other than Jerry. While the two have reached a seemingly tolerant and sometimes friendly place in their relationship, the bad blood from their split in 1994 is still clearly there.

This is no more indicative than in Johnson’s continued absence from the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor.

The 2020 Hall of Fame weekend promises to be a great time for Dallas fans. In addition to watching Jimmy get inducted, the Cowboys and Steelers will kick off the preseason in Sunday’s game.
