This year’s AdvoCare Classic game between the USC Trojans and Alabama Crimson Tide will no longer be played at the Cowboys’ home stadium. Originally set to be played on September 5th, the game had to be cancelled due to changes in out of conference scheduling policies for the 2020 season.
This announcement follows the PAC-12’s overall announcement that no one in their conference would play any out of conference games in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, the college football season as a whole seems to be in flux at the moment, as campuses weigh whether or not to open among the ongoing pandemic.
The NFL is continuing business as usual for the most part, though there was another interesting announcement concerning AT&T Stadium this week. The Cowboys announced that season tickets will not be available for the 2020 season, though there is a chance for limited single game ticket opportunities.

Quite honestly, I think we are headed for a fan-less 2020 season. Outside of the Miami Marlins outbreak this week, both the NBA and MLB have had decent success playing during the pandemic, though it is still early.
Of course the NBA, WNBA, and NHL have all opted for the bubble model, which is more successful and less risky thus far than the MLB’s traveling system. It’s also a much harder sell to players, especially given the length of an NFL season.
Regardless of how they go about it, this 2020 season is not going to look anything like we are used to seeing. But, man, I’m just glad it seems they’ll be playing.
