Another week, another terrible first half of football for the Dallas Cowboys. They’ve shown all the same old issues as they’ve allowed Washington to take a 22-3 lead into the halftime break.

Dallas has already given up 125 yards on the ground to one of the worst rushing teams in football prior to today. They also have surrendered some big plays through the air, particularly an easy 52-yard touchdown to Terry McLaurin on a big defensive breakdown.

Offensive miscues are also contributing. Andy Dalton got stripped on a pass that bounced back towards the endzone. Dalton Schultz recovered but went backwards and led to a safety.

Dallas failed to convert on 4th-and-1 from their own 45 and set up Washington for their second touchdown today. The timing was questionable, only down 9-2 at that point, and the play call left much to be desired.

The Cowboys were pushing for a touchdown on their last drive before halftime, marching 63 yards on 13 plays. However, Dalton threw a pass behind Ezekiel Elliott in the redzone and it was tipped into the hands of the Washington defender for an interception.

Unfortunately, after what we’ve seen so far this season, expecting a major turnaround in the second half isn’t rational.
