What Could Simi Fehoko Bring to the Table?

Wide receiver Simi Fehoko did not get a lot of opportunities on offense for the Cowboys during his rookie season, but the 2021 fifth-round pick is getting a chance to make a case to get some first-team looks in OTAs.

Fehoko was a fifth-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2021 and found some time lining up next to CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the crew during OTAs this past week.

Can Fehoko bring anything to the Cowboys? Lamb takes over as the clear-cut No.1 guy, and Gallup will be coming off ACL surgery. Fehoko is 6-3 220 pounds, the biggest wide receiver Dallas has on the roster. Fehoko did not impress in college, hauling in 62 catches for 1,146 and nine touchdowns in his career as a Cardinal.

I will be honest I don’t see this as much more than a plug-and-play for now. James Washington has been in a walking boot. We know Gallup is still out. Outside of possibly a Redzone target with his size, I am not sure how Fehoko could get first-team looks when everyone is back.

It is always good to have a guy like this, someone who you can keep in your back pocket and has run with the first-team guys. In the case an injury or something like this happens in the regular season, you have someone like Fehoko who can step in. Dak Prescott would know the type of route runner he is, whether he likes the football thrown to his inside or outside shoulder, high, low, etc.

As I mentioned before, this might be plug-and-play as of now. It helps that Fehoko is getting work with the first-team just in case he is called upon during the regular season, but outside of being a RedZone target, not sure he could get real run beyond that.
