The Cowboys will soon have WR1 back as they prepare for the 2021 season. Starting training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, Amari Cooper has now passed a physical and been cleared following offseason ankle surgery.
Cooper had the surgery in January and was still finishing up recovery when Dallas first opened camp in Oxnard, CA about three weeks ago. While he may not immediate be a full participant in practice, this gives Amari plenty of time to be ready for the regular season opener.

Cowboys WR Amari Cooper and DE DeMarcus Lawrence on a similar trajectory. Both started camp on PUP. Both since activated. Neither to practice fully while team in Oxnard. Both expected to play Week 1.

The Cowboys haven’t been lacking at WR without Cooper. CeeDee Lamb has reportedly been the star of training camp thus far and we’ve seen some highlights from Michael Gallup as well.
It’s a big season for Amari coming up. The Cowboys may be deciding in 2022 to either keep Cooper or re-sign Gallup, likely being unable to do both under the salary cap.
Hopefully this injury is completely behind Amari Cooper and he can be as productive as ever when Dallas opens the 2021 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
